Julia Day personally likes to mix it up every few years, which is exactly what she did with this home. In fact, this is the seventh makeover you're about to witness on this house.

The owners wanted to retain the old Joburg charm of this property while updating its design and functionality. It had to be a natural home for their art and modern furniture as much as for their family of four - plus pets.

About 12 years ago the owners and Julia Day became a team and have ever since transformed the house and made interior-dreams come true.

This time specialist heritage architect Joe Van Rooyen took care of the bigger picture. We’ve seen what he could do, restoring a twenties house in Westcliff and he struck a similar balance here.
The result is a minimalist’s dream, that includes a unique kitchen that can be considered an art installation itself.
