Bafana ace Teko Modise on Top Billing
There’s little you can teach Bafana ace Teko Modise about the beautiful game. He’s been voted Footballer of The Year twice, won the league, and yet there is one frontier he still needs to cross to reach legend status - Bubble Soccer.
Jade decided to introduction Teko to a different style of soccer this week, to see how the player handles himself on the astro-turf. Also known as Zorb football, Bubble Soccer is played on a small soccer pitch, with the player’s upper body and head encased in a 'bubble'. Invented in Norway for a television show called Golden Goal, it’s now taken root in S.A. to bubble soccer we realized what a philosophical approach Teko has to life.
This year, it was safe to say that Teko Modise walked away with Cup Player and PSL Midfielder awards, but this is all thanks to the dedication that’s gone into his career. Despite the biggest clubs from Europe expressing interest in Teko, his bond with his coach and country was a strong force in keeping him here.
But soccer isn't the only passion of this superstar – fashion also holds a special place in his life. Giving others a foot up, the stylish mid-fielder launched a “Designing for Teko” competition where aspiring fashion talents showcase their skills with one becoming the official designer of his ‘street-style’ brand for a year. That said, there’s still plenty of football left in Mr. Modise and that’s good news for Sundowns and South Africa.
