Bonang Matheba shines in yellow
See what designer Gert-Johan Coetzee had to say about this spectacular outfit!
The gown Bonang is wearing is from my latest red-carpet collection. I find this shade of bright yellow so inspirational and uplifting, which is probably why it is such a big trend right now. I've dressed Bonang in yellow before so I know that it suits her colouring and that she can pull off such a bold shade with confidence and pizzazz. I went for a clean contemporary design and used fabric that was custom-dyed with abstract splashes of black, to make the dress appear like an art canvas. As a designer you don't always find the fabric you want available commercially, so I print my own designs on fabric in order to have unique material to work with. This is a perfect dress for a red-carpet queen such as Bonang - from its high neck with the soft satin draping, flowing down to the fishtail bottom of the train. It elongates and flatters the figure; plus it looks effortless and dramatic at the same time, which makes it great on camera. If you were to wear this to a red-carpet event, you'd accessorise with simple black accessories with a bling touch; a black clutchbag and heels, and some Swarovski crystal chandelier earrings.
