Bonang shoots a Christmas cover for Parisian magazine Amina
Whichever language her fans speak, Queen B has a style, an approach to life and success which is universally understood and admired. Which is why Paris-based, French magazine Amina asked Bonang to grace their Christmas cover. The French language, culture and fashion influence extends far beyond the capital of France. From its headquarters in Paris, Amina magazine is read around Europe, exported to and read in several African countries, across the Caribbean islands and in North America too. So, for Bonang to be approached as the cover story for their December issue is a measure of how far brand Matheba is known and making an impact. Between its fashion pages, the magazine discusses a range of social issues too and for their covers they choose women of substance.
Charlotte Seck is the editor of Amina. She has seen it become the highest circulation French language magazine for black women and knows what kind of cover sells. A champion of South African designers, Queen B was loving the addition of some French flair to her look.
Most of us have to learn French to find an audience in Paris. Bonang has done it without saying a word. Style is a language universally understood – especially in France.
