DIY 3D lighting with Lisa Swanepoel
There is an incredible spectrum of colour we could use to light our homes, and fine artist Lisa Swanepoel shows us how to do it.
A visit to Lisa’s house reveals her advanced level of training as a Fine Artist and Textile Designer. It also shows a child-like fascination with paper, colour, light and how they come together to delight the eye and create wonder. Balancing her professional skills with this inner child results in magical design.
Early in her career, this fine artist turned her skill to creating window installations, which seduce the eye. The same is easily achieved at home.
Because there is such a short journey from creative idea to seeing the product of your inspiration, this is an encouraging way to get yourself into DIY lighting design.
To put a collection together and be brave about doing it, it is best to think of these lights as mood enhancers and intense colour accents - rather than functional lamps.
Gather a few of these together in varied shapes, sizes and colours to create a pool of warmth. A sculptural, 3D light space to fill a room with atmosphere.
