Can one live one's dream? That is the question we ask our local equivalent of Jennifer Hudson, the multi talented Lindiwe Bungane ('Effie White').
Simba spends the day with Lindiwe, sharing in some of the backstage preparations and on-stage glamour of South Africa's production of the hit Broadway musical Dreamgirls. Together they chat about Lindiwe's long road to finally scoring a leading role in this major theatre production. Simba ask about Lindiwe' favourite costumes, has fun with her in the wig department (he always did want to see what he would look like in an afro!) and attempts a vocal warm up, before meeting the show's director and some of her co-stars. Lindiwe's personality is as big as her voice and results in her being loved by all who work with her. And just like Jennifer Hudson did in the movie version Dreamgirls, Lindiwe shows how you don't have to have the perfect figure to be a success in show-business.
After seven years of struggle, it seems that Lindiwe's big break has finally come. She is living proof that you should never stop dreaming.
