Fashion and flair at the Vodacom Durban July
The Vodacom Durban July is still the most exciting and stylish racing event and we get ready for a mega dose of glamour.
At the 120th running of Greyville’s flagship event, the Vodacom Durban July Fashion Experience drew easily as much attention as the race.
A winning design here is a foot up in the industry and in his urbane, faux-fur collared coat, Terrence Bray was ready to judge. Beating talents from across the country, Kimosha Ganas won first prize in the Fashion Challenge with this futurist vision. In The Gold Circle Exceptional Raceday Hat or Fascinator competition, Zandile Masondo cut to the chase with a red and beige stunner that won her a hat-trick.
On a cool day, competition was red hot amongst debutant designers and the prize of a trip to New York was won by Leona Pillay with a beige and blue knockout. The number of Instagrammers and style watchers posting and tweeting looks, by far outweighed the formal fashion press and this gladiator inspired number was a hit.
Queen B went off the shoulder, floral and perfectly fitted. The main race saw the triumph of a horse named The Conglomerate and a visibly proud trainer in Joey Ramsden. If they’d come for the race or the style, the 50 000 guests were richly rewarded.
