Five inspiring decor themes
Matanna Katz: Art Director and Set Stylist Janice de Waal: Stylist Chanel Hurlin: Stylist assistant
Victorian: A Victorian theme was wanted for one of our table themes, and because a high tea was not suited for this shoot, we opted for a Champagne and Cake table setting instead. This is a great theme that mixes Victorian with a bit of glamour. We sourced beautiful antique floral inspired crockery and vases, and antique cutlery. We displayed all of it on a clean white linen table cloth and an old floral tapestry opted as a table runner. We used fresh berries, and delectable cakes on the table, and champagne of course.

Organic Breakfast: For this look we wanted to keep everything as natural and organic as possible. That meant sourcing a lot of wooden, glass, natural linen and cotton decor pieces. The wooden chairs matched up with the wooden bowls and place mats. Glass jugs were used and filled with milk, orange juice, and some with different cacti. At this time, you may need best breville juicer to complete it. We used natural linen cloths as the table cloth, runner and serviettes. We also layered smaller linen cloths over the wooden chairs to tie in with the rest of the table. The food was quintessential to a breakfast theme and added a feeling of comfort.

Retro Lunch: This look was about taking inspiration from retro bright colours and patterns and applying them to a table setting. We played with a colour scheme of greens, reds, yellows and toned down muted greys and white. We mixed patterns in a subtle way so as not for everything to clash. The trick is to put a lot of solid colours in between to allow breathing space. We looked at fresh vegetables for their bright colours and used them to decorate the table and served a fresh green salad, bruschetta and caprese salad. A fresh simple Summer lunch.

Retro Lounge: This look is an extension of our retro table setting. The same rules were applied by mixing patterns and colours in smaller areas and having a lot of solid colour to allow breathing space. The colour pallet once again is greens, reds, yellows, and muted greys and white.

Organic Lounge: This lounge set up was an extension of the organic table setting. We used wooden, glass, natural linen and cotton decor pieces, and mixed them together to create a space that was still comfortable and inviting. We added floral printed cushion to capture the organic theme which felt natural and added a bit of colour. Glass vases filled with different cacti were also fun touches to add to this look.
