Gert Johan Coetzee toasts his 30th birthday with friends
Gert Johan Coetzee is already such an established powerhouse in fashion; it’s hard to believe he only just turned thirty.
We caught up with Gert after the success of his Autumn/ Winter 18 collection and a recent return from showing his new, eighties themed inspirations at Lagos Fashion and Design Week
Stocked in high end boutiques and sold by the biggest online fashion retailers, Gert’s brand has grown into a comprehensive fashion house.
Almost every function Gert hosts is one in which he uses the press exposure to highlight worthy causes, from empowering women to water conservation and literacy. But on this night, Maira Koutsoudakis ensured the only focus was on the birthday boy having a party.
Friends like Lira are witnessed Gert’s red carpet, bridal and ready to wear collections finding markets across Africa and into Europe. A vision that has become reality before their eyes.
This is one designer who style icons like Minnie Dlamini Jones can hardly imagine their careers without.
Organizing the event was Gert’s anchor, his husband and professional partner Vicky Visagie.
As he enters his thirties, this driven young designer says he has learned not to take life too seriously. 2018 will be a big year for growing the brand overseas but first comes Christmas at home in Koster then a well earned break with friends in Mozambique.
