What started more than 10 years ago as four high school students’ dreams of being on stage has now culminated into a heart-warming and jaw-dropping musical sensation The Gugulethu Tenors.
These self-taught vocalists who have just launched their debut album in June this year, filmed their first music video ‘Nyamezela’ (meaning Perseverance) with an A-list team – consisting of New York director, Loerie award winning art director/producer, and SAMA Award winning executive producer.
Nicolette Michaels, spokesperson for The Gugulethu Tenors says, "They have been dreaming of doing their own music video for many years, and this dream is now becoming a reality. We ... will bring an international edge to the production, without losing sight of the roots of the group and the song." The Gugulethu Tenors is proudly South African – with African lyrics and sentiment carrying through in their musical expression.
As the music video captures the essence of who they are and tells the story of a significant moment in the past in the lives of these four tenors, Lorna goes back stage of the making of the music video, to find out more about their humble beginnings.
