Interior designer Wessel Snyman shares his top tips for framing & grouping objects
Interior designer Wessel Snyman shares his knowledge in the art of grouping objects and breaking the mould when it comes to framing in stylist Wim Van Zyl's incredible home.
The way Hangwani creates a dress, Wessel Snyman approaches the interior design of a space – as a work of art. While a painter uses brushes, oils and canvas, Wessel does it with framing, fabrics and layout – as he did with the apartment of stylist Wim Van Zyl.
We joined Wessel Snyman at his Woodstock studio where he shows how framing an image or object incorporates so many of the ideas he goes on to use in his interiors.
Master craftsman at the studio, Xolisile Tshikini - started working here in 2010, knowing nothing about framing when he began. Fast forward eight years and he’s become one of the industry’s best craftsman in charge of all final assembly on the most challenging framing commissions.
Since hair stylist Wim van Zyl met Wessel at his gallery, the two have become friends and they often use this apartment as a space to innovate. Wim collects a huge number of individual pieces which interest him and Wessel helps him to layer, group and arrange his collections.
To calm the nerves before trying new décor ideas, Wessel suggests tea or a glass of wine.
