Jade Hubner weds Matthew Daniel on Top Billing
Top Billing attends Jade Hubner's dream wedding
Top Billing got a front row seat as our lovely presenter Jade Hubner and actuary Matthew Daniel became Mr. and Mrs.
The two met at university and connected one day while walking to an economics tutorial which she was attending and he was lecturing.
After a first date at a pizza spot, Jade and Matthew realized that from sport and adventure to music, maths and sushi – there was next to nothing that one enjoyed and the other didn’t.
Their big day was the perfect blend of elegance and modernity, and the couple looked amazing. Having proposed in Bali, Matt put his meticulous talent for details into the design of his and his groomsmen’s suits – together with sartorial consultant Justin Molloy.
They decided on a classic grey suit with a classic cut in an effort to emphasise the bridesmaids’ dresses.
Jade’s dress was a liberated and highly personal design by couturier Jacques Le Grange, who had dressed her before. The end result was a beautiful strapless number with a modern and chic feel.
The couple initially planned to elope, until they realised that their grandparents would be devastated. So, they chose a Noordhoek wine estate venue and asked Sonal Patel to co-ordinate.
The end result was a fun and interactive wedding with no formal seating, allowing guests to move around and eat freely. Features included a gin and tonic bar, coffee barista, cigar lounge, and interactive food stations.
The deconstructed approach to the function was a hit, with everyone free to talk to or dine with anyone they chose.
Their impressive geometric cake was by a favourite chef, Junior Mbuli, who escorted it down from Joburg. Its four layers included lemon, red velvet, vanilla and chocolate.
It was hard to choose a favourite feature, but they both appreciated that Matthew’s grandfather officiated the marriage, which also saw vows from the couple that didn’t leave a dry eye in the crowd. For Matt, another highlight was watching his beautiful bride walk down the aisle.
With a business opportunity having presented itself in Mauritius, they’ve decided to have their honeymoon there too. They’ll return to a new house and family will feature soon but first, a year at least for just the two of them.
