Strauss began playing rugby at the Paul Roos Gymnasium, and even though he only played one game for the first team, his passion for the game was ignited. He then spent two years at Alan Zondagh’s RPC where he made a great impression and was selected to represent Boland at U/19 and U/21 level. Strauss then moved to France for a year to focus on his game before returning to SA. Strauss made his debut with the Golden Lions in 2010 during the Currie Cup competition, and the 24 year old impressed with his professionalism, dedication and “never say die” attitude. He is a gentle giant who commands respect – from both his teammates and opponents. (lionsrugby)
