Last Minute J&B Met Outfits
You weren't planning on going, but now you're thinking you can't miss out! This is a wardrobe crisis...breath in breath out, don't panic - focus on what you have in your wardrobe: is there a basic dress you can work with? I have a couple tips to make your look 'larger than life'
- Silk scarves can be tied around the waist like a colourful belt; or tied into a big bow on the strap of your dress.
- Hats can take any look from regular, to race day - "Accessorize" have a great selection of sophisticated hats, as well as some interesting hair pieces.
- Pin-on fabric flowers are a colourful statement that can be easily attached to your dress (or to your jacket, gentlemen); they can also be pinned onto hat bands, or the handle of your purse to jazz things up. Gorgeous pin-on flowers spotted at Accessorize, Sass Diva or Forever New.
- Tulle is a type of mesh that they make ballet tutus out of, it also works wonders to give your skirt that extra va va voom "poof" - if you're handy with a sewing machine, add a couple metres to an elastic waist band, and wear under a baby doll dress, for a whole new look.
- This one may leave you cross eyed - but sequins give an extra sparkle to even the plainest dress - for this year's theme, go for the extra big 'disk' sequins (available at most sewing shops) and stitch or glue on to the bust of your dress, your purse - even an old pair of shoes!
Have fun at the races!
