On safari with actress Kgomotso Christopher
We joined actress Kgomotso Christopher and her family at Mabula Lodge in Limpopo for a well deserved break.
One of South Africa’s favourite actresses is Kgomotso Christopher and with her currently juggling not one but two new television roles, quality time off with her family is like gold. Instead of being on set at 6am, this was a different start to her day!
Just two and a half hours outside Joburg, here in Limpopo Province, Mabula Game Lodge had arranged a sunrise balloon safari. A chance for the tv star, her husband Calvin Christopher and young Larona and Lesika to really make the most of some time off. For someone used to delivering dialogue all day, this quiet was like treasure.
Since it wasn’t swimming weather, Mr. and Mrs. made use of the Mabula Lodge Luxury Spa’s African, Calabash and Rungu massages. The lodge sits at the heart of 12000 hectares of private reserve and General Manager Arno Du Preez offered us some great options to explore.
Calvin is an American lawyer who met Kgomotso on a semester as an exchange student at UCT. She completed a degree in Law and Politics, joined him in the U.S. where she completed her Masters, then returned home - to where stardom beckoned.
Amongst them, to do more of this with her children; nature loving 7 year old Lesika and 9 year old Larona who along with reading, loves speech and drama like her mom. Lesika’s the aspiring cook, is very fond of experimenting in the kitchen – or baking over an open fire.
This year, Kgomotso became an Ambassador for Assitej South Africa, an organisation that looks to develop theatre for young audiences.
