He works at the UN World Food programme, she runs a Pediatric Cardiac Foundation, but getting married was going to mean Peter Shivute and Tumi Sisulu taking at least one day out from helping their fellow human beings – and what a day it turned out to be.
The classically elegant reception took place in a beautiful Georgian house in Hyde Park and to make it all happen, Tumi entrusted someone she knew could pull it off – her sister.
The reception wasn't the only elegant part of the wedding though. Ensuring that Tumi’s bridal gown lives long in the memory of the guests, designer David Tlale made sure she was a vision. But just wait till you see the wedding cake though – the 8 tiered masterpiece is a truly classical cake in ivory, coral and gold with hand-crafted flowers, making this one cake that we'll never forget.
Peter's love for Tumi was abundantly clear during their touching and sentimental vows. She is a woman whose entire work life is dedicated to helping children get accessible medical care, wherever on the continent they may be, and this has earned her the love and respect both her newlywed husband and also her in-laws.
The two families are definitely fun loving and if you forgot the names in the room it was just another very happy wedding.
Don't miss this special couple's special day on Top Billing this Thursday at 7:30pm on SABC3.
