By the time Siyabonga Metane and Melissa Wilkinson met, each had a child, a good career and circle of friends but finding the right partner had proved elusive. Until they discovered something different in each other and realised – this is it!
Professionally, they come from opposite ends of the spectrum. Melissa works in the corporate world. Siya is better known as Slikour, founding member of the ground-breaking Hip Hop act Skwattakamp. Personally, he is in no doubt that she is the love of his life and after six years together, they decided to make it official.
The country club surrounds affirmed how hard they’d worked for their dream. Siya began his career at the age of twelve, buying cassette tapes, recording his rap music onto them and selling them for a profit.
The couple have already celebrated their ‘uMembeso’ traditional ceremony and now it was time for the white wedding.
Siya’s friends and Noah (his son) know him as a man of action and clear direction. What they enjoy about his bride is how she brings out his other side. The guys closest to him see the difference.
Siya now has a personal love the equal of his dedication to music. His career has gone online with his website, Slikouronlife.
The couple hope to add to their number and make a family of five. As for the fans, South Africa is smiling to see one of its favourite sons so happy and fulfilled.
