South African celebs shine at YOU Spectacular Awards
It is time for the YOU Spectacular Awards and the readers have spoken!
They call it show-biz because brands, tv shows and franchises are built around these celebrities. What’s special about the YOU Spectacular Awards is that they’re the surest measure of what the public think. Bonang Matheba and AKA made this their first official appearance together for that reason. Plus, it’s a great party.
Actress Amanda Du Pont in pastel pink was a showstopper. As a nation, we love our Miss South Africas and Liesl Laurie remains popular as ever while The Christophers always turn heads. Many personalities reminded us that they too are members of the public, readers of YOU and that they’d voted.
Keeping her cards close to her chest was reigning Miss SA Ntandoyenkosi Kunene. In musical tributes to legends lost this year, Lloyd Cele did a rousing Stand By Me by Ben E King and Graeme Watkins performed a fabulous tribute to recording artist, actor and style icon David Bowie.
Amongst the toughest awards to win is favourite tv presenter, because you are so much in the public gaze, but Katlego Maboe loves it and viewers clearly love him. In spite of the competition, Jessica Nkosi found she was SA’s favourite actress. When it came to Sexiest Man, Maps Maponyane was the ladies’ first choice.
