Born in Butterworth, Eastern Cape, twenty eight year old Loyiso recently founded his own Visual arts communication company which publishes his comic book. His other profound talent is painting portraits and these works, sold as far as the U.S. and U.K. allow him to investigate the more complex aspects of human nature which fascinate him.
This week we find out how Loyiso set out, against all odds, to bring a uniquely South African superhero to life, in the incredible new comic book character Kwezi.
His African superhero is similarly real, as Kwezi is about finding one’s identity and purpose, and tells of a self-involved teenager with superpowers who must learn that with his abilities comes a responsibility to his community.
Having also recently done a portrait of Arch Bishop Tutu for cancer awareness, and has become an icon of authentic African art.
