Top Billing attends the Skip Fashion Exchange
Three young designers were recently challenged to create a unique range inspired by their city, for their city. That was the beginning of the Skip Fashion Exchange, which is a successful first in African fashion.
A call to each city’s most stylish citizens to interpret their home towns, upload their pictures to Instagram and have them recreated as one-of-a-kind fashion collections. It’s only natural that a spirit of healthy competition would emerge between cities, and the three designers leading the packs were Joburg's Rich Mnisi, Cape Town's Jenevieve Lyons, and Durban's Sibu Msimang.
Each city was reflected in the collections, from the vibrancy of Joburg, the airy feeling of Cape Town and the naturalness of Durban.
From runway to reality, the Skip Fashion Exchange message is that fashion can be inspired by all of us, as well all share in our fabulous South Africa.
