The bride is Norwegian, the matchmakers American, the groom is French Mauritian but grew up in the Seychelles and later in Durban, the couple live in Cape Town and they’ll honeymoon in Bali, Indonesia. If ever you wanted proof that we live in a global village, this is it!
Mari is a former Junior Olympics handball player who was scouted as a model at 17 and who’s already lived in London, the U.S. Turkey and Japan. Luc is a part-time model and works as a financial analyst at an offshore hedge fund. A designer’s dream, Mari had an almost too-busy career when the option of working in Cape Town came up and she jumped at it. Luc won her heart and so did the local fashion scene.
Designer Jacques la Grange was invited to show his haute couture in Moscow last Spring and Mari chose two of his hand-made masterpieces for her wedding. When it came to choosing a wedding planner, they were happily already great friends with Jade Allen. For a bride and groom who look good without ever having to try too hard, their cake was dressed down, decorated in an unassuming country style by Hanlie Jones.
What Mari adores about Luc is that he brings out the best in her, challenges her so she can grow, compliments her and is unafraid to show his feelings. As for the groom, nobody can make him laugh quite like his bride. She is easy going and together they have fun together, no matter the time or place.
