Whether you were officially part of the Vodacom Durban July Fashion Experience or just there in your personal capacity every outfit was a loud statement in style.
On the day there were many winners both on and off the field. Taking the title of Fashion Challenge winner was Durban’s Tilone Viljoen and model Julia Rose. In the field of menswear, it came down to not overthinking your approach and Naseem Nazeer hit the bullseye. Taking his cue from the cosmopolitan Rainbow Nation was Prince Nsibande, winner of Classic Racewear for Women. Delivering the best men’s and women’s ensemble in one is what’s demanded for the Huawei Best Dressed Couple and Catherine Nolan knocked it out of the park.
For hat designers, this event tops even Fashion Week and most exceptional race day fascinator went to Zandile Maphumulo and her model.
There were several thrilling runs on the day, all leading up to an epic in which the heavily favoured Edict of Nantes was beaten by last year’s runner up Marinaresco in which winning jockey Bernard Fayd’herbe road a masterful race.
