Top Billing catches up with Die Heuwels Fantasties
Die Heuwels Fantasties are an alternative rock band that chose their lyrical name to make fans feel good. Their songs have won every local music award you can win and their 5th studio album Okay! is a whole lot bette than just okay.
The band’s name refers to the hills around Durbanville where they grew up and it’s this evergreen cradle of Afrikaans rock music, which lead guitarist Frederik van Hartog, and the guys can now nurture.
A morning’s paragliding was a thrilling way for the guys to celebrate Fred’s recent joint-SAMA award for Best Engineer on the latest Arno Carstens Album. We took the guys to the Cape Brewing Company because like their approach to music, the motto of this business is Independent since day one. In a competitive beer market, Master Brewer Wolfgang Koedel and the team have forged a growing customer base and created many sustainable jobs.
Like Brew Master Wolfgang, the band has a winning recipe with the recent addition of Sheldon on drums and Freddie’s growing excellence in production and sound engineering.
Every summer has one album as an anthem, which it always be remembered by. We think Okay! might be it.
