Roxy catches up with hip-hop star Da L.E.S
Kicking off the show this week is mover, shaker, skate-boarder and hip-hop star Da L.E.S. who has just built a new home studio, released a new album and recently celebrated the first birthday of his adorable baby girl, Maddy.
Born in Washington D.C. and living in Mzansi from the age of nine, Da L.E.S.’ hits fuse African beats with world hip hop, but when he's not making music, you'll most probably find him at the skate park.
We catch up with Da L.E.S. as he shows us his impressive skating skills and “knarly” heel flips. Had he not been a professional recording artist, then pro skateboarding would have been another natural avenue for his talents ,as he gathers some of his inspiration on the half-pipes.
Part of the CÎROC Circle, a group of S.A.’s most prominent creative talents, Da L.E.S. is now mentoring new acts such as former Idols contestant Olivia Cloud. He has also recently built a studio at his home after winning the Tropika Island Of Treasure competition.
With his new album ‘North God’ out in July, we looked deeper into his musical influences which range from Michael Jackson to Stevie Wonder, and he lets us in to how he stays relevant.
Join us as we catch up with beat-master Da L.E.S. on Top Billing this Thursday at 8:30pm on SABC3.
