Top Billing celebrates Youth month with Tema Sebopedi
Isidingo’s Tema Sebopedi is living proof that determination and hard work will get the results you want.
Youth Month is about formidable young people making their way, whatever the odds, and actress Tema Sebopedi has been roundly praised for her portrayal of a young woman overcoming breast cancer. Happily, off-screen, she’s the picture of health and she credits Zumba classes as a big part of that.
If Tema had R10 for every time a casting director told her she was too short, too pretty or too young for a part – she’d be rich. But she persevered. She’s a licensed instructor in Zumba, a dance fitness program created by Colombian choreographer Alberto Perez. 15 million people take Zumba classes in a 180 countries so if Tema heads for the U.S. she always has this to pay the bills until her big break. Isidingo and Zumba aside, Tema is also a Sunday school teacher and SPCA volunteer.
