Top Billing discovers the other talents of Sharks rugby players
Sharks players Lubabalo Giant Mtyanda and Sbura Sithole can juggle more than one ball at a time!
Whether it’s because injuries happen, or that their careers are relatively short, rugby players all seem to practice other talents on the side. For Lubabalo Giant Mtyanda, it’s a voice made for R’nB and Sbura Sithole, not only raps, but he just released a new single called Chocolate.
A dynamite wing for The Sharks, Sbura has represented South Africa at the Junior World Championships and in Sevens. Finding him in a yoga studio was surprising for an athlete who does 100m in just over 10 seconds and is more associated with explosive power than meditation.
Being quickest to your feet and mobile is central to modern rugby so a bit of stand up paddling was good training with the relatively new face at The Sharks, Lubabalo ‘Giant’ Mtyanda.
With Sbura and Giant in the team, the Sharks have won almost two thirds of their games this season including victories over the Highlanders and Hurricanes. This is a year of sea changes for South African rugby and with a little patience from fans, great things may come.
