With the Rio Olympics on the horizon, we catch up with someone definitely in the running for the gold – world 400 metre champion Wayde van Niekerk.
Born in Cape Town, Wayde finished his schooling at Grey College in Bloemfontein. The football crazy kid, fan of Kaizer Chiefs, Liverpool and Real Madrid, has grown into a track athlete on a par with football’s best.
It was clear that Wayde was going to be a winner from day one, as the medals started coming once he stepped into the first pair of running shoes that stepfather Steven Swart gave him – something which this 23 year old champ will never forget it.
Join us this week as we find out a little bit more about this champ, from his influences and role models, to this young man's obsession with sneakers.
