We meet Louis Jansen van Vuuren and Hardy Olivier at their West Coast beach pad and talk about their cookbook.
Louis and Hardy’s French country manor is such a renowned home of cooking that they just released the book - ‘The Story of A House’. This week on Top Billing we are invited to their lesser known beach home, located in The Cape St Martin Private Nature Reserve.
Louis and Hardy’s house sits on a peninsula where they watch the sun rise and set over the same ocean. Glass walls 'disappear' into the outer walls, revealing French antiques in an otherwise modern interior. The cantilevered staircase was cast on site and finished in the same white cement as the floors. Its free floating design is a suitably artistic introduction to Louis’ workspace where the sunlight is ideal for painting and the Kaloenie’s Bay sights a constant inspiration.
We had previously visited the gifted duo in Chateau de La Creuzette, their manor house in Limousin, France. Here, guests from all over the world join them for holidays and a book about it was long overdue. The pages share the epic tale of the 15 year restoration of Château de la Creuzette and its rich history; the almost 90 new recipes and an additional Crookbook in which the hosts share their easy shortcut recipes and tips.
