After finding her true calling, there is nothing stopping this creative South African, Katherine Mary Pichulik.
Katherine-Mary Pichulik initially studied fine art, after that became a patissier and only then did she discover her true calling - turning rope and pieces found here and there into stunning jewellery.
Winning several awards in its 4 years, Katherine-Mary’s jewellery sells in 25 stores internationally, including London’s famed Selfridges. Created from a variety of material like rope, wooden beads, copper and semi-precious stones from Niger, Ethiopia and Ghana, it’s handcrafted in Woodstock and is a good example of homegrown innovation.
The real feat has been turning it into a sustainable, growing international brand. The materials are 90 percent African, reworked in South Africa, exclusively by women and any out sourcing is to small businesses to promote job creation in local communities.
One of Katherine-Mary’s designs was nominated as the Most Beautiful Object in South Africa at Design Indaba and she’s been voted Accessory Designer of The Year!
