Making movies with her phone wins Rainn Vlietmann international acclaim and a red hot directing career.
At just 23 years old, Rainn Vlietman is already making waves as a film director. She recently walked away with a top award at this year’s Bokeh International Fashion Film Festival.
Wits University’s film and media school is where it all began for Rainn. With her dad initially wanting her to study commerce, it was her mom who recognized Rainn’s talents as a budding filmmaker - setting the course for Rain to further develop her talents.
Taking inspiration from various film genres and experimenting with new technologies has been a trademark of Rainn’s unique and inventive approach to film making.
With her footage shot solely with a mobile phone camera it goes to show you don’t always require high end equipment to capture imaginative images, instead she relies on her vision and drive to create art.
With opportunities abound for young filmmakers, Rainn’s vision as a film director serves as a role model and inspiration for others to take up the camera and call – action!
