Top Billing features the wedding of Matt Proudfoot and Vanes-Mari du Toit
As inspiration in the month of love, we bring you the West Coast wedding of a gentleman of South African rugby – Springbok forwards coach Matt Proudfoot to Proteas netball player Vanes-Mari du Toit.
After the couple lived in Japan where Matt coached, then in the UK where Vanes-Mari played pro-Netball, they bought a dream home in Blouberg and got engaged. Deciding on their Paternoster venue was easier than finding a dress for a bride standing six foot two at the altar but designer Rose Molteno knew what was called for.
The wedding party would run the full range from burly rugby coaches to Matt’s daughter Kristin as flower girl. Ruth McHattie gave them a dramatic floral design all elevated from the table and together with Cindy Clokie delivered a relaxed feel of rustic class.
This being sheep farming and fishing country, lamb was the order of the day along with a speciality of Chef Nacholas Bart. Once Vanes-Mari retires from professional netball they aim to start a family and spend even more time on the beach.
