Of all the very serious questions in South African rugby, at least one has finally been answered - Who will former Springbok inside centre Wynand Olivier marry? The answer is Anri Brand and naturally, at the game’s most anticipated wedding, Top Billing got the exclusive.
Many girls dreamt of being Wynand’s bride, but it was only Anri had what it took to steal his heart. This week we find out the story of how Wynand proposed, which echoes the sweet memories of their first kiss, and also a very interesting Eiffel Tower anecdote.
Present on the day were rugby players, both past and present, including Captain Fourie du Preez, Tom Botha, Francois Hougaard and Gary Botha.
Wynand’s rugby career has taken them from Tokyo to Montpellier in France, where the French-speaking couple travelled the wine regions extensively. It's only fitting that their opulent and elegant wedding be on a wine estate, with beautiful rustic elements brought through with raw oak and silver birch trees giving it an unpretentious charm.
