Good Champagne is like that friend who’s always top of everyone’s guest list. Bringing life and soul to the party, without fail, it is the wine industry’s most bubbly personality and certainly deserves a festival in its honour.
It is a celebration of life – in a glass. This event in Inanda is the only one of its kind in South Africa. It is about a shared appreciation for a beverage of which the great French General Napolean Bonaparte once said ‘In victory one deserves it and in defeat one needs it.’
The experts were there to answer every question on the three grape varietals used, chilling, pairing and for ABSA’s Winston Monale, the 2017 vintage of the event was the best yet.
The authority on everything from selection and tasting to how you open champagne with a sabre – is Emmanuel Gantet.
