Top Billing goes Spanish at Joburg’s hit new eatery, La Boqueria

For chefs to stand out from the crowd with a style all your own - is not easy. So, when some renowned Joburg restaurateurs opened their new spot, they went all out Spanish – and Jozi went loco.

La Boqueria in Parktown North is a love letter to Hispanic food and how it’s evolved around the world. Set on reclaimed parquet floors, this double volume, retro, arty space is already a Joburg favourite and we got to the heart of its appeal with General Manager, Warren Murley.

Artist Brian Viveros gave permission for his famous Matador painting to be reproduced in a mural, painted by, Marlene Stroebel, mother of designer and co-owner Ryan Stroebel.

The live green of hanging plants and potted trees blends with the 1950’s style blues and browns of the fabrics and kiat tables - all designed and made locally.
The partners behind this Spanish food experience started out thinking that they wanted to simply introduce tapas, but as the space evolved so did the menu. Warren and Chef Duncan Sheedy take you on a flavour tour.
