As actor David Rees celebrates his 50th, life is looking pretty sweet for this favourite of South African tv audiences. He’s back as the new star of 7de Laan, off-screen he’s recently engaged and his birthday party was what is popularly known as a Skop!
A mainstay of South African television, David’s role on 7de Laan casts him as Chris Welman, the difficult father of a wealthy family with a dark history. Known as a social man who gets a kick out of bringing fellow creatives together – the birthday boy was in his element that evening.
If 7de Laan’s leading man has been smiling even more than usual these last six months, it’s since he began dating accountant Herculina Pentz. There was a secret in the room which everyone was in on – except for one guest. This was more than a birthday!
