Top Billing meets an SA Jazz singer in Japan
With the kind permission of his loving dad Joseph Mhere we bring you part three of the Japanese adventure of Simba.
Simba's last travels to Japan is a tribute to his sense of adventure and we're honoured to share them with you. He visits one of Japan's biggest cities and a major port, Nagoya, home to a fifteenth century caste as well as jazz singer Prisca Molotsi.
The black-belt, jazz-singing unofficial South African ambassador to Japan Prisca Molotsi gives us the 411 on Japanes culture and what it's like to live there as a South African. Even though Prisca has been living in Japan for over 24 years, she still knows how much South Africans love food. Naturally she took Simba to try some local treats like mochi-dango, rice flour and sticky dumplings served on a skewer.
Our next stop is the tranquil Tokugawa gardens, followed by a musical number by Prisca, who reveals she can even sing in Afrikaans after all these years!
Join us for part three of our great Japanese expedition this Thursday evening, 8:30pm on SABC3.
