Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana midfielder George Lebese is renowned for his footwork and this week we find that at the heart of this dazzling display of skills, lies a man who meditates, adores his two kids and is a bit of an artist – when no one’s looking.
George Lebese’s move to Mamelodi Sundowns is his challenge to himself. Since his domestic form won him an international call up, it has been a riddle to fans why the winger hasn’t got more game time. He decided that to reach his potential, he needed to compete for his place with the best and signed for coach, Pitso Mosimane.
As a boy, George begged his father Sam Lebese to buy him a Sundowns jersey, which eventually he did. Today, at the age of 28, he’s earned the jersey outright. Leaving Kaizer Chiefs after 9 years was a leap into the unknown for George.
The new Sundowns signing has found a use for an old smart pad of his, to which the technical team upload videos to help him refine his game. Embracing the new, George loves the unexpected conversations he has when picking his son Alondwe up from school, he has also taken up meditation to help him relax.
With 186 000 followers on Instagram, the life of Mr. Lebese is a constant source of inspiration for his fans and we can see why!
