Top Billing steps into the home of Heinz Winckler
Singer Heinz Winckler’s growing family demanded some extra room and so they built this house with help from Brandon Keays and Rory Bands.
It took the couple about a year to finish the project. Since they began, all their furniture has been in storage. During that time Aletté planned where everything would go and the end result is a combination of French, country and Afrikaans style she calls ' Boere Chic '.
Designing houses wasn’t Aletté’s plan, she studied journalism but in the last few years discovered she’s got more than one passion. Although Aletté appreciates white interiors, she prefers working with colours. Little Reuben's space is big on turqoise with a theme of elephants, owls and splashes of yellow and taupe. Lian and Simeon's room is red, white and blue in Union Jacks and Stars and Stripes that hark back to their parents’ time in the U.S. In the bathroom, they went Victorian and emerald green with a bath for Aletté, shower for Heinz and free-standing, his and hers antique vanities.
Heinz is working on his first independent album titled: THE ROAR. He recently acted in a film of the same name which will feature the title track from his new album. Heinz has a business pairing live music with the braai skills of a colleague and he and Aletté love entertaining too.
The lady of the house developed her eye for design and style whilst watching make-over shows when they lived in the States. She did a course on image consulting, began blogging and it’s now her mainstay. Running her various businesses from home allows Aletté to give her best to work and family. Only at the braai did we find out that she’s also a pianist and singer who’s co-written a few of Heinz’s tracks. Together, they create fine music - and houses. Heinz’s new album is set to hit the shelves in August and Aletté is working on a new TV show concept.
