Top Billing visits a dream family home
In the tree-lined streets of an old Joburg neighbourhood, Ebrahim and Tasneem Samodien have found their home.

In their twelve year marriage the couple have lived at six different addresses from Cape Town to the U.K., with their first home being a one bedroom apartment with a mattress on the floor. Today however they live in their dream home where they’re raising their sons, Imaad and Ra’id.
The couple got rid of their old furniture and chose to have everything custom-made for the new place, which interior designer Jason Bricknell was on hand to help with.

The house is old, and they had to gut the entire interior and redo floors, electrical, plumbing, ceilings and wall finishes to get the final product they wanted.
As for the interiors, Jason’s designs are influenced by the modern style and rich materials of the Art Deco period of the twenties, and this lent strong form to the brass accents and colour which the Samodiens wanted.

The main living and entertaining area is a chic space with pops of colour and luxurious finishes, while the bedrooms reflect the family’s tastes.
The boys sleep in an amazing 'Jurassic Park' meets 'Boys In The Hood' style room complete with a stunning graffiti mural, while mom and dad’s room is more elegant and timeless.

Tune in to Top Billing on Saturday at 6PM to see the full thing!
