Top Billing brings you all the highlights from the annual Red Carpet Fashion Show
This Saturday on Top Billing we feature a gallery of walking, dancing, swimming, wearable art. It’s the annual Red Carpet Fashion Show with local and international designs you need to know about and if standing out from the crowd was their intention – they nailed it!
This year the show merged South African design with collections from France and accessories from Italy and the U.S. The thread running through collections, like the one from Jacques Le Grange, is the level of workmanship, elevating design to high fashion.
From evening to swimwear, all eyes turned when the models emerged in designer Jade Ashley’s pieces inspired by the love of Nature, African culture, form and colour.
The marina moved from fashion shoot to hosting 400 editors and influencers to assess looks from ready to wear through to wedding gowns. There was also an unofficial, off-runway show led by stylist Siyavuya Dondolo.
Bringing international flair was a resort collection from France. Top, local beachwear was accessorized with handbags by leading South African brand Jekyll & Hide and editor Nontando Mposo was most impressed.
From M. Couture to a host of other homegrown labels, The Red Carpet Fashion Show was about more than which outfit you had to have. There was the kind of pride in South African achievement which is otherwise only reserved for national sporting heroes. For our designers, it was a gold medal winning performance.
