Jason, Nicholas and Donovan Goliath feel laughter is essential to life and the way their comedy clubs are growing - the public seem to agree.
It is just six years since comedian Jason, his sister Kate, their cousin Nicholas and Donavan established the company. As MD Kate is happy behind the scenes, while the gents do the funny.
From Maboneng to Braamfontein and in the hub of a prime Johannesburg shopping area, the venues these comedy partners have opened allow comedians a consistent, formal stage. For growing audiences, it is entertainment where they live.
The sophisticated wine and cigar bar design as well as the menu mean that this venue competes as much as a restaurant and cool hang out as it does, a comedy club. To partner in a venture as big as this, the various Goliaths had to know each other well.
The guys began their careers in little hole-in-the-wall clubs. So, it’s right that creating stages like this has earned them three SA Comic Choice Awards for being the Best Friends of Comedy. The team plans to extend their business model to four new venues in two years and they are already testing a spot in Pretoria. The comedy is coming to a place near you – soon.
