Why you should give culottes a try
When Roxy Burger recently sported a beautiful pair of printed culottes on the show, it was a lesson in effortless cool.
If you're having difficulty choosing between pants and a skirt then the culotte might be the perfect option for you. It's the best of both! Feminine yet slightly androgynous, it gives your legs room to breath without the worry of your modesty being compromised when a gust of wind howls by.
Here are 5 reasons why you should give culottes a try:
1. It's a fun shape
Depending on the hemline, the culotte can give you a voluminous shape or a slightly more tailored look. Either way you will look like a day dream walking with your pants fluttering in the air as you strut your stuff.

2. It's flattering
A pair of culottes can be uber flattering as it accentuates the waist, especially when paired with a belt. The on-trend hemline can also show off your ankles.
3. That hemline is so hot right now
The culotte capitalises on that on-trend hemline where your pants or skirt end mid-calf or just above the ankle.

4. It's so versatile
Culottes work very well when styled with a tailored top or crop top, but as you can see from the lovely street style image above, these billowy bottoms are really yours to style as you please. Opting for a one or two tone look can also be very pleasing to the eye, but, as these ladies illustrate, the colour is not what matters, it's the attitude.
Paired with heels, pumps or a fitted ankle boot, culottes can also elongate your look (legs for days!). Wearing them with a pair of sneakers or chic flats will up your edginess, so either way, you win!

5. It's comfortable
There's nothing like a little room to breath so give your slim skinnies a rest and try a pair of culottes. Fashion favourite Alexa Chung (above left) certainly looks comfortable (although it is arguable that she is just wearing wide-legged pants, which are also a great idea, but note that all important hemline). Like Rita Ora's patchwork culottes and matching top (left)? Then you're going to adore the coat she paired with the look, see it at Your Next Jeans.
