Ford Ranger Test Drive
Bigger. Tougher. Quieter. Setting the Benchmark
Ford has all but left it's competitors in the dust with the all-new 2012 Ford Ranger. Whether it be 4x4ing on the weekends, travelling long distances or just driving to work every day, you'll be constantly surprised by this big guy. In a very good way.
And when I say big, I mean BIG. This truck is not about flash, but the first thing you'll notice is it's size. At 5.35m long, 1.8m wide and 1.85m tall, this is the biggest car on the road. When it comes to appearances, it's not a subtle car; people will definitely see you coming. However, despite it's potentially overwhelming size, the 'look' of the new Ranger is modern, classy and sporty.
From its rather impressive armoury you can expect a real work-horse of a pickup that's been built to withstand just about any condition. It's the perfect blend of smart technology and raw muscle.
On the road, the Ford Ranger is an amazing vehicle, driving both smoother and quieter than it's opposition and it has an effortless pull. There's no need to be shy with a 1000kg+ payload.
Modern, well-designed features provide for a superbly comfortable interior that make you feel like you're driving a normal car, instead of a bulky pickup, which is saying quite a bit.
Owing to it's size, the Ranger allows for plenty of room for driver and passengers alike with many hidden compartments for stowing away and as far as safety goes, the Ranger pulls out all the stops with ABS and DSC for maximum controlled descent; dual front airbags, driver knee airbag, side curtain and side seat airbags (standard on XLT models) allow you to drive knowing both you and your passengers are protected.
Overall it's impossible not to be impressed with the Ford Ranger for all it has to offer and although it is more pricey than it's competitors, there is more in it for you and that just makes it worth it.
