Designer Buzwe Mabuza and architect Africa Mbatha give a 100 year home
Our location this week is a100 year old Joburg home, respectfully renovated for a motorbike and movie loving family! You won’t want to miss this!
Having stood for a hundred years, this home deserved a respectful makeover and that’s what designer Buzwe Mabuza and architect Africa Mbatha delivered. Their clients are leading insurance mind, Brad Edwards.Crazy for motorbikes, road trips, and his wife Sandra Edwards who decided to leave her top jobto raise their family.
The mix of African contemporary and Frenchperiod designs, reflects a family who accommodate varied points of view. Being a heritage property, there were strict rules on what could be changed. The brief was for the renovation to have a new entertainment wing built, run on solar energy and allow for golf on the roof.
This home is stately without being pretentious, respects Nature, architectural heritage, it’s energy self-sufficient and a whole lot of fun. Mission accomplished
