Feng Shui family living on Top Billing
This week on Top Billing we come to you from a family home that has become a hub for both work and play. For the family who lives there, thismeans it's a home which allows mom to run her business from, dad to get away from the office, gran to garden and the girls, to dance and play the piano.
It took years for architect Pietman Lategan to meet a client who wanted a thoroughly modern house. Lucky for him, this was precisely what lawyer and construction business owner Tamzin Vassanjee was after.
Following the Bauhaus ideas of being minimalist, geometrical and without ornamentation, the design of the house reflects style and functionality. Tamzin and her mother Judy decided they’d do the interiors themselves and worked mostly in leather, wood, aluminum and glass. Together with high ceilings, an abundance of windows and light, they have kept the house as natural as possible.
Outside is where the real magic happens though. From the pool to the greenhouse, their outdoor space has become the heart of the home. Not only is the greenhouse a place that the family can enjoy together, but it also symbolises love, growth, patience, nature and hope.
Tamzin’s philosophy is simple; that we live out our lives as we are meant to live them – with some choice, and some chance, but mostly as a result of the people we are. This is one home that certainly reflects who she and her family are.
Don't miss this beautiful family home on Top Billing this Thursday at 7:30pm on SABC3.
