Kitty Phetla takes centre stage From the age of nine, tomboy Kitty Phetla knew she wanted to be a ballerina, but it would take more than a dream to make centre stage.
With her original black swan take on the famous Dying Swan solo, Kitty Phetla won over audiences across Russia, the home of excellence in ballet. Now dancing a far happier role in Don Quixote, Kitty sees mentorship as key to her success – and is making sure she's passing her life lessons on through outreach programmes. Having performed for the likes of Madiba and the Dutch Royal Family, as well as being one of the youngest 21 Icons, Kitty has a keen sense of what the music should look like, and portrays that like only a prima ballerina can.
