Top Billing meets up with Miss SA Tamaryn Green ahead of Miss Universe
It’s already been a year since SouthAfrican beauty Demi-Leigh Nel Peters was crowned Miss Universe, now our newest Miss SA, twenty-four-year-old Tamaryn Green, has her chance in the international spotlight.
Not just a pretty face, Tamaryn is studying to be a medical doctor and has a passion for working in aid of disadvantaged communities. Perhaps most impressively, Tamaryn has been passionate in her work with her #BreakTheStigma campaign, aimed at reducing the discrimination people suffering from tuberculosis endure.
She has overcome the life-threatening respiratory illness acquired through her medical work herself, and it can only help that she’s been getting into top shape with leading biokineticist Letshego Zulu.
We got to catch up with the beauty ahead of her Miss Universe bid in Thailand, and joined her for one last workout before she left. With a pageant this big, an enormous amount of effort goes in to the preparation. It helps having Werner Wessels , in her corner. A member of Tamaryn’s costume design team and also her coach, he showed us how her look has evolved.
Cheers at the media launch suggested that many believe our reigning Miss Universe, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, may well be handing her crown over to another South African. If Tamaryn does win, it will be only the second time that a country has taken consecutive titles. Miss Universe takes place in Thailand on the seventeenth of December and we wish Tamaryn the best of luck!
