Majozi conquers the snow at Afriski
Africa offers the best of every kind of holiday imaginable – with the exception of snow-skiing perhaps. Hold that thought, because this week we discover some brilliant ski-runs with a Winter Music Festival happening just over our border in Lesotho!
While most South Africans head for the ocean around holiday time, climb just over three kilometers above sea level and you reach The Afriski resort – where their mantra is that even ‘a bad day’s skiing beats a good day in the office’.
About five hours from Joburg, it hosts the annual Afriski Winter Music Festival, so Jade and folk artist Majozi decided to check out the scene. Before the hit the slops though, Jade catches up with him as we find out how he found himself in the rock industry, and a few of his career highlights so far.
But they didn't travel all that way just to chat, so they hit the slopes, snowboard in hand. Yes, you heard right, snowboarding, right here in Africa! One thing's for sure, we are impressed by their snow skills. Forget about The Alps and The Rockies – we’ve got the Malutis.
