Musical superstars George Ezra and Bongeziwe Mabandla
Not since the 60's has there been such a strong wave of folk music, world-wide, with artists like Britain’s soulful George Ezra or our own urban-African poet Bongeziwe Mabandla. This week, both are Top Billing’s musical guests.
George Ezra was just 19 when he issued his debut single "Budapest". His album 'Wanted On Voyage' hit number one, and brought him to South Africa on a sold out three city tour.
Amongst the artists George worked with on tour was a two time SAMA nominated singer-songwriter Bongeziwe Mabandla whose music is just as distinctive.
Born in the rural Eastern Cape, Bongeziwe always wanted to sing, but he's come a long way from pretending his deodorant was a microphone.
Both from humble beginnings and both makes waves in the folk music scene, George and Bongeziwe seem to be the perfect musical fit.
