We head to the studio of acclaimed sculptor Adriaan Diedericks in Cape Town.
Before studying fine art in Stellenbosch, Adriaan lived in Piketberg where his family converted a castle into a guest house. Now, at 25, he's one of South Africa's most prolific sculptors making it hard to believe he once considered becoming a dentist! Adriaan cites one of his bigger inspirations as local artist Lionel Smit who he did an apprenticeship with.
Adriaan now lives two hours away from his childhood home, in Strand, where he's got a studio in which he brings all his artistic dreams to life. When it comes to casting his artworks, Adriaan doesn't do it alone. He's got a talented team on hand to help him bring his sculptures to life. Adriaan's creations have been exhibited both at home and away, from the Everard Read gallery in Cape Town to Art Fair Cologne in Germany and Art Fair Strasbourg in France.
